CLIMATE

April in Vienna marks the arrival of spring, with mild temperatures typically ranging from 10°C to 18°C. The weather is generally pleasant and increasingly sunny, although occasional rain showers may occur. Light layers and a small umbrella are recommended for a comfortable stay.

CURRENCY

The official currency of Vienna, and of Austria, is the euro (EUR). Credit and debit cards are widely accepted in most hotels, restaurants, and shops.

SAFETY & SECURITY

We recommend you to follow the same rules of safety you follow while travelling anywhere else:

  • Keep your travel documents in your hotel safe deposit box
  • Always carry the hotel address with you when you leave the hotel
  • Do not leave personal items (bags, mobile phones, etc.) unattended
LETTER OF INVITATION

We will send you a letter of invitation upon request and after full completion and payment of the registration. Please note that this letter of invitation does not commit the congress organisers to any kind of financial support or hosting arrangements, nor does it guarantee an entry visa. The congress organisers will not contact embassies or consulates on your behalf.

AUSTRIA

Capital City: Vienna
Population of Vienna: 1.9 million - Vienna is the largest city in the Austria
Official language: German

TIME ZONE

From April 8 to April 11, 2027, Vienna will be operating on Central European Summer Time (CEST), which is UTC+2

ELECTRICITY

In Vienna, the standard electrical system operates at 230 volts with a frequency of 50 Hz. Power outlets typically accept Type F sockets (Schuko) and Type C plugs are also commonly compatible.

If your devices use a different plug type, you'll need a suitable plug adapter. For devices not rated for 230V, a voltage converter may be necessary. However, many modern electronics (like smartphones and laptops) are dual voltage and only require a plug adapter.

TIPPING

In Vienna, tipping is customary and appreciated, though not strictly mandatory. In restaurants, it is common to leave around 5–10% of the bill if you are satisfied with the service, or simply round up the total.

In cafés, bars, and taxis, rounding up the amount or leaving small change is also standard practice. When paying by card, it is often preferred to give the tip in cash directly to the staff, although in many places it is also possible to add it to the card payment.
